Peek-a-Boo Alphabet Blocks

These designs are used for the Alpha Block Quilt that is shown on the Buzz Tools Project Sharing pages. It was created using an interesting technique taught at the first Software Club at Dublin Sewing Center in Dublin, CA. Since I have a little grandson who will soon be learning his ABCs, I was inspired to create a wall hanging for him featuring doors embroidered with capital and lower case letters. Behind each lettered "door" I placed an embroidered picture of an object which starts with that letter. Making the wall hanging even more of an educational tool, I tried to also put in objects with different sounds for the letters which have more than one pronunciation. An example of this would be the "K" sound of the letter "C" as in "Clown" and the "S" sound of "C" as in "Cement Mixer".
This was a terrific project for incorporating many of the designs I have collected from the internet. Each design used for the blocks needs to be no larger than 55mm x 55mm. Because of this I used Size Express to reduce larger designs. (When reducing the size of many designs, I found they stitched better if I adjusted the density for 30 weight thread, even though I still stitched them out with 40 weight thread.)
